It’s that time of the year again, the whole world is looking forward to the new year’s celebrations. Office canteens are filled with enthusiastic discussions of the new year’s party (new years party / new year party) and the pertinent plans.

Finally the day comes, when you are surrounded by sounds of merriment and the loud music shaking your windows. New Year is here, but hey, this is not something you look forward to. There are a lot of people like you, who love to or rather prefer spending time with oneself. They find it exhausting to dress up, go out and attend the new year’s party (new years party / new year party). Irrespective of the reasons for your being an introvert, there is no dearth of ways to have a perfect New Year’s Eve.

Listen to your favorite music

Ward of the month end work pressure by switching on your favorite piece of music. Singing or shouting along with a Karaoke while you sip away your drink can be very enjoyable and relaxing for many.

Play a game

Has work kept you busy all month then you deserve to indulge in some gaming? Video games can be a great companion for you. It’s not only a great source of entertainment and engagement but also has a few cognitive benefits like problem-solving skills, hand-eye coordination, improvement of multi-tasking skills, etc. So go ahead, get into your pajamas, order some food and play.

Good food is a great companion

If you are among those who love eating good food, then go ahead, wear that apron and give yourself a treat. Prepare that dish you have always wanted to. Look up the recipes online or just do it your way. This is especially for those who find cooking a pleasurable and joyful experience.

But if you hate cooking, then go ahead and order what you love from your favorite restaurant. Or better, go out to that restaurant and enjoy the special menu for the evening.

Pamper yourself

A refreshing facial or pedicure can do wonders to shed off the pains of the year gone by. Ask your beautician to come over and help you pamper yourself. Alternatively, a home made face pack coupled with soaking your feet in warm water with some mineral salts and fragrant oils can be equally beneficial to ring in the new year in a relaxing way. Simply applying a fresh nail paint can also be very enjoyable for some.

Appointment with your diary

The year is coming to an end. What could be a better time to introspect and relive events you went through. It’s a wonderful tool towards discovering yourself. List out the things that you feel were important to you, also list down all that you wanted but could not accomplish. What is a New Year without your New Year resolution? Start making one on New Year’s Eve. Remember to keep it simple and achievable along with the action required to achieve it.

Do up a movie night

Catch up on a movie that you always wanted to over Netflix. Pop that popcorn in your microwave, lower the lights and you are sorted to munch away through the movie in the comfort of your bedroom.

Catch up with your sleep

If you are among those who believe in ‘early to bed, early to rise’, the New Year’s Eve won’t be an exception. Your body clock would automatically make you hit the bed at your regular time. It’s always good to catch up on your sleep, especially after a hard day at work. By doing this your will ensure that you have a fresh morning ahead of you on the first day of the New Year, while your partying friends would be struggling to get off the New Year Party hangover.

Hang out with your family

Spending time with your siblings and parents on New Year’s Eve, ordering some food and watching your favourite shows on TV can be great way to bring in the new year. For a lot of people, nothing compares to hugging your loved ones at midnight and wishing them a happy new year.

Hit the road

Though it may be one of the most dangerous days to be out on the road, going on a long drive aimlessly can be very satisfying for many. Similarly, moving around the town around midnight, just to stop at junctions and scream “Happy New Year” and then head back home can also be an adventurous experience.

Pack your bags and leave

The climate in most places around the New Year is mostly pleasant and a good time to travel. Pack up your bag and take the path less traveled or simply embark on a solo travel to the place you like. Explore a new place, meet a new people, it could be a great way to end the year with a hopeful and positive note. Come back refreshed and begin your New Year.

Spend time with your furry friends

Being with your pets will not deprive you of your alone time. They will always prove to be great companions who will de-stress you for sure.

No matter what happened this year, do all that’s possible to end the year with peace in your heart and start the new year the same way. Control the attitudes and set the tone for this new year. Choose peace over chaos.

So turn down the New Year party invites and do justice to your choice of staying at home and spending the entire night by yourself and enjoying your solitude. Do not let the reluctant socializer in you stop you from having a perfect New Year party with yourself.
